Kate Osborne MP’s Advice Roadshows are a success, bringing vital support to local communities in South Tyneside and Gateshead

Following the successful Advice Roadshow events at South Shields Football Club in Jarrow, and the ONE Centre in Bill Quay, Kate Osborne MP said:

“I am so pleased that my constituents were able to come along to my Advice Roadshows today, they were a real success, with so many people coming forward to access support.

“The need in Jarrow and Gateshead East remains high and my office continues working hard supporting constituents on so many different issues. Events like these roadshows, bringing services directly into our communities makes a real difference and ensures my constituents are heard.”

“I’m grateful to all the organisations and volunteers who came along to the events to offer their support and services to residents, it really is so important that people know what support they can access, and I’m pleased to have delivered that for my community.”

Residents across Gateshead and South Tyneside attended two Advice Roadshows, connecting face-to-face with organisations offering support on the cost of living, health, housing and community safety.

Local partners including councils, Citizens Advice, North East Warm Homes, Out Gateshead, community groups and Northumbria Police were on hand to provide practical help, guidance and signposting, all in one place.

One constituent who attended described the event as “very helpful and informative,” with “a friendly and approachable atmosphere to get support and advice”

Mark, from Our Gateshead said “It was a good opportunity to network with other organisations, I would be very keen to attend future events like this!” Kat, attending on behalf of Jarrow Jobcentre said: “It’s good to see all the services out to support the local community, offering advice to local people”

Many organisations also remarked that it was a hugely useful event and a great opportunity to connect with other advice organisations in the area to provide a more joined up approach in providing advice locally.

The events highlighted both the scale of local need and the value of joined-up, accessible support in the heart of the community.
