Kate Osborne MP accompanied local business owner, Peter Moody, to a reception for SMEs from the North region on Monday 3rd November, held in Number 11 Downing Street.
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, was delighted to welcome a variety of businesses from across the region into Downing Street.
The reception was an opportunity for Gap Group North East’s CEO, Peter Moody, from Jarrow and Gateshead East to speak directly to the Chancellor who is currently preparing to deliver the Budget later this Autumn.
Kate Osborne, MP for Jarrow and Gateshead East, said:
“It was great to showcase what a successful business GAP Group North East is and how much they contribute in Jarrow and Gateshead East, and celebrate all businesses in the North East.
It was a great opportunity for Peter to speak directly to the Chancellor and he even got to meet Larry the Cat.
“Earlier this year I joined GAP Group to launch their new site and I’ve previously spoken of the brilliant work they do at GAP RENEW, employing local people and serving our community with pride.
“This Government knows how important SMEs are to Jarrow and Gateshead East, and the country, which is why it was brilliant to take the experiences and thoughts of our local businesses from Jarrow and Gateshead East directly to the Chancellor ahead of the Budget this Autumn. ”
Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer said:
“We are a pro-business government, and we know that SMEs are the beating heart of high streets, industrial estates and local economies across the country.
“That’s why we’re reforming business rates, have secured trade deals with the US, EU and India to boost exports of whisky, gin and other British products, and have seen interest rates cut five times since the election, benefiting businesses in every part of Britain.”
